Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the exchange of back-up head even if an eccentric lense changes its curvature and eccentric value, by installing to its eccentric surface a sphere surface sliding mechanism designed for mating the back-up head surface. CONSTITUTION:As an auxiliary piston 8 is lowered on the eccentric curved surface of an eccentric lense set to a reference chick 1, the bottom peripheral surface of an back-up head 4 is displaced by sphere surface sliding bearings 6 and 7, conforming to the eccentric curved surface of a displacement lense, and is made into close contact with the eccentric curved surface 5. After the eccentric lense is put between the reference chuck 1 and the back-up head 4, the lense is chucked by applying pressing force to a driven spindle 8. Thereafter, rotary motion is given to the rotation driving spindle 3, thereby polishing the outer periphery of the lense.
