Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the abrasion resistance and thermal cracking resistance of the shaft and sleeve of the roll for the electromagnetic stirrer by limiting the specific components of austenite base heat-resisting steel. CONSTITUTION:The heat-resisting steel composed of at least one of Mo; 0.6-20%, Ti; 1.5-27%, Nb; 1.0 or under V; 0.8% or under, Al; 0.6%, or under B; 0.03% or under and the rest substantially of Fe for the basic components composed of C; 0.15% or under, Si; 1.5% or under, Mn; 3.0% or under, Ni 21-30% or under, Cr; 12-18% based on weight is used for the shaft and sleeve material of the non- magnetic roll of the electromagnetic stirrer for preventing segregation of the slab being continuously cast. The shaft and the sleeve member outside the shaft are removably provided. Here, the reason for limination of the components lies in the enhacement of high temperature strength through addition of at least one of Ti, Al, Nb. Besides, addition of at least one of Mo, V, B for the purpose of improving the high temperature strength characteristics is equally well.
