Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a molten-metal level meter with high measurement precision by connecting an AGC circuit, which can be disconnected, to the output of the molten- metal level meter and then by compensating a measurement error by adjusting the output of the meter to a constant value by the AGC circuit while a mold is employed.
CONSTITUTION: Vortex molten-metal level meter 4 consists of oscillator 11, feedback amplifier 12, detector 13, dummy coil Zd, and variable resistance Rc, and comparator 14, reference voltage generator 15, servo-amplifier 16, servomotor 17 and push-button switch S are provided. An AGC circuit (automatic gain circuit) consists of Rv, 14, 15, 16, and 17. The amplification factor of vortex molten-metal level meter 4 is so previously adjusted that the output of detector 13 will nearly be equal to output voltage Vr of reference voltage generator 15. As a result, an influence of variation in distance between a mold flank and vortex sensor 3 is eliminated to realize the accurate measurement of a molten-metal level.
