Abstract

PURPOSE: To achieve stabler catalyst activity, longer catlyst life and higher deodorizing efficiency by treating the gas containing malodorous components through ozone catalyst oxidation then introducing atmospheric air in place of this gas and heating the catalyst at high temperature.
CONSTITUTION: The gas containing malodorous components is contacted with ozone in the presence of the catalysts containing one or more kinds of transition metals whereby it is removed of malodorous components. At each fixed time, atmospheric air is introduced in place of the foregoing gas and the catalysts are heated at high temperature, whereby they are regenerated. The above process is carried out repeatedly. Pt, Pd, Rh, Ru, Cu, Fe, Ti, Ni, Co, Cr, V, etc. may be enumerated as the adaptable catalysts. It is desirable that the heating temperature in said regenerating process be kept in a range of about 250W450°C.
