Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the effect of desulfurizing or deoxidizing molten metal by blowing a molten metal treating agent into the metal from the tuyere hole of a porous refractory together with gas and by blowing gas fine bubbles for agitation into the metal through the refractory.
CONSTITUTION: Porous refractory body 1 having through tuyere hole 2 is attached to sliding plate 4 of a sliding nozzle, and gas feed pipe 3 is connected to hole 2. A desulfurizer such as CaC2, a deoxidizer such as ferrosilicon, or the like is blown into molten metal from the lower part of hole 2 through nozzle 6 together with inert carrier gas. After blowing a prescribed amt. of the desulfurizer or the like agitating gas is blown from second gas introduction pipe 3 through body 1 made of high refractory such as alumina and having a porosity of about 20W30%. Bubbles of the gas blown are made smaller than gas bubbles of a conventional method to enhance the treating effect. At the time of stopping the blowing plate 4 is shifted to the closing position to prevent the blowing device from being damaged.
