Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce the installation cost and the running cost of the waste water treatment, by introducing the waste water passed through the anaerobic atmosphere into the aerobic atmosphere parallelly existing in the upper part for the purpose of nitrifying the nitrogen included in the waste water, and by returning the waste water again to the anaerobic atmosphere in order to decompose the nitrated nitrogen.
CONSTITUTION: The waste water 18 including nitrogen is introduced from the inlet port 23 into the lower contact basin 2 being kept under the anaerobic condition; after that, the waste water 18 enters into the aerobic contact basin 1 parallelly existing in the upper part through the communicating passage 21; in which, the nitrogen included in the waste water 18 is nitrified to the nitrite or nitrated nitrogen. Next, this waste water 18 flows down through the communicating passage 20 and is returned to the anaerobic contact basin 2. In the anaerobic contact basin 2, the organic substances included in the waste water 18 react on above stated nitrite or nitrated nitrogen and are decomposed to N2 and CO2 gas. In the aerobic contact basin 1, the nitrification reduces the pH; and in the anaerobic contact basin 2, the denitrification raises the pH; since the adjustment of the pH is hus proceeded, the conventional pH modifier can be made unnecessary.
