Abstract
PURPOSE: To treat to obtain sandlike powder, rich in organic matter, high in fertilizer value, easy in storing, carring and other handling, and high in safety, by adding gypsum and slaked lime to the household sewage settling sludge dehydrated to such an extent as to maintain fluidity, and drying.
CONSTITUTION: Setting sludge occurring in public sewage treatment final plant is dehydrated to such an extent that the fluidity may not be spoiled, and is then mixed with gypsum and slaked lime. Then, drying naturally or by blowing hot air, sandlike powder is obtained. The ratio of gypsum to slaked lime is usually 2:1, and the amount of addition with respect to the dehydrated sludge is about 10W20%. Such treated matter is free from odor peculiar to settling sludge, and pathogenic organisms are destroyed, so that the safety is high.
