Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain connector terminals of high dimensional precision, by closely contacting three spheres with the inside of tubular body mutually on the plane, inserting an optical fiber into the central triangular gap thereof, and injecting molten plastic into the tubular body to integrally solidify the spheres and the optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:Three spheres of the same diameter 7 are arrayed on the plane by mutually contacting, and a tubular body 8 is vertically held on the plane so that these three spheres 7 may contact with the inside thereof. An optical fiber 1 is inserted into the triangular gap enclosed by the spheres, and is held vertically on the plane on which the spheres are disposed. Molten plastic is poured into the tubular body 8 to integrally solidify the spheres 7 and optical fiber 1. This integral body is released from the tubular body 8, and a plastic mold 4 including the spheres 7 at the end is formed. This array of spheres is very stable, and the diameter of the circumference passing through point 9 where the three spheres 7 are exposed outside is stable and at high precision and the center of this circumference coincides with the central axis of the optical fiber 1. Such properties are stable and unchanged even when the plastic mold shrinks.
