Abstract

PURPOSE:To mass-produce the aforementioned connector without damaging optical fibers by using a preset optical fiber positioning insert in the production of the optical fiber connector of a resin into which the optical fibers are inserted. CONSTITUTION:There is prepared an insert 12, which is formed with a taper through hole 15 and a hole having the same diameter as that of an optical fiber 1 having its upper end chamferred at 13. The optical fiber 1 is inserted into the hole 14 of the insert 12 and is inserted into a mold 8 having a thin hole 9. A resin is injected into a cavity 10 which is formed by split molds 7 and 7'. The resin is partially injected into the hole of the insert 12 and is set so that an optical fiber connector made integral with the insert 12 is produced.
