Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a core which is inserted easily and has excellent precision by holding a metallic pipe in the center of a core and a guide, having a taper hole and a fiber insertion hole, atop of the metallic pipe. CONSTITUTION:A round glass fiber 11 having a diameter a little bit less than that of an optical fiber to be connected to the center part of a metallic mold 10 for molding a core is sheathed qith a resin tube 12, which is covered with a metallic pipe 9; and a fiber guide member 5 is fitted atop of the metallic pipe to be held so that the center axis of a hole for the core and the axial core of the glass fiber are allowed to coincide with each other. Then, resin is injected into the gap 14 of the hole for the core of the metallic mold 10. After the resin is cured, the core 3 is taken out of the metallic mold 10 and the resin tube 12 is extracted to complete the core. This method facilitates the insertion of the optical fiber and the core having high precision without any axial shift of the insertion hole is obtained.
