Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the optical fiber connector which does not cause degradation in characteristics owing to tmeperature and humidity by burying the glass and ceramics of the coefficient of expansion lower than the fixing member which buries and bonds optical fibers in said member. CONSTITUTION:A glass plate 12 is placed under a splicing groove and is buried by epoxy resins, whrerby a groove substrate 11 as a fixing member is formed. Glass fibers 9, 10 are buried in this base 11 and are bonded and fixed from above by the glass plate 13. According to this bonding method, the increase in loss is hardly observed in contrast with the case of only the epoxy where the loss reached several times the initial one in one month after giving temperature changes of 60 deg.C-20 deg.C and 4 cycles/day as compared to the case when the optical fibers are buried and connected by the epoxy resins alone. Stability may be increased as against the change in heat cycle and temperature by the auxiliary member buried near the optical fibers.
