Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the displacement in the relative positions of the connection with each other and improve coupling efficiency by putting a metal covering on optical fiber surface and quickly bonding and fixing the metal on a support base and the metal on the fiber surface after positioning of the optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:In the case of connecting of optical fiber to an element 1 such as light source, photo detector or other or other optical fiber, first this is beforehand bonded on a supprot base 2. The support base 2 creates the optical fiber 5 support part 3 in staircase form. A metal of good adhesiveness is beforehand deposited on the surface of the support base 2. On the other hand, the otpical fiber 5 to be connected is beforehand deposited on its surface with the metal 8 similar to the metal deposited on the support base 2. This optical fiber 5 is fixed on a fine adjustment base 9 and is then finely moved on the support base 2, whereby it is positioned to the place where coupling of light becomes maximum. Next, both are compression- bonded and fixed by a header 10. This bonding takes place quiclky, hence the displacement of the relative position of the connection with each other may be prevented and coupling may be effected with good efficiency.
