Abstract
PURPOSE:To lower loss at the point o connection, eliminate aging and achieve the improvement of workability by forming a groove of a specified shape in a substrate through photoetching then mutually fixing and connecting the optical fibers aligned the axes with bonding agnet and keep plate. CONSTITUTION:A photosensitive resin sbstrate 1 is affixed to a metal plate 3 being a supporting plate, by using a bonding resin 4. A groove of a specified shape is formed by photoetching in this substrate 1. Next, the optical fibers to be connected are inserted into this groove and a bonding agent is placed thereon. The optical fibers 2 to be connected are then pressed by a keep plate 6 to both tapered side faces of the groove to perform axis alignment. This state is maintained until the bonding agent 5 sets. In this way, the groove of high accuracy may be readily made by photoetching and the loss at the point of connection may be lowered.
