Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the bubbling effect of the covered electrode and elevate the blow-hole resistance, by especially limiting the combination amount of carbon source, Mo and Ni (alloy) in the coating agent composition of the electrode.
CONSTITUTION: The coating agent which contains Mg and CO3 of 8W27% in weight, one or both of TiO2 and ZrO2 of 14W35%, SiO2 of 5W30%, talc, mica, kaolin, china clay, sericite, etc. of 0.4W3.0% in all, carbon steel of alloy iron, etc. containing graphite, activated carbon or carbon of 0.14W0.85% in its total carbon amount, Mo, Ni or its alloy of 0.7W3.0% in Mo equivalent expressed by Mo+ 1/4.5Ni, is applied to the steel-cored wire by use of water glass. Resulting from the foregoing, Mn content in all the welding metals is made 0.10W0.35%.
