Abstract
PURPOSE:A specific coating composition is added with a limited amount of silicon tetrafluoride mica and coated onto a soft steel core wire, thereby effecting an increased slag viscosity, preferable contact angle, and enhanced workability. CONSTITUTION:Into a coating material 1 to 6% of silicon tetrafluoride is added to increase slag viscosity, to improve workability, providing a contact angle of 160 deg.C. Additional components include: one or both of CaCO3 and MgCO3 in 8 to 55% in total as slag former and gas evolving agent; CaF2 in 3 to 22% for reducing welded metal hydrogen and as slag forming agent; Mn in 2 to 13% for deoxidizing agent and for improving weldability; one or both of Si and Ti in 0.5 to 11% in toal for deoxidizer; Fe less than 50% for improving welding efficiency; and water glass in 5 to 10% on solid base for binding coating.
