Abstract

PURPOSE:To always obtain a constant concentration of developed image, by detecting the toner deposit quantity photoelectircally, and cleaning with a magnetic brush by the developer on a pump-up roller. CONSTITUTION:The developer pumped up by a pump-up roller 11 forms a brush- like ear by means of magnets 38, 39 provided inside. In the part close to a developing roller 12, the developer is transferred to the surface of the developing roller due to attraction force of a magnet 28. In the development process, the deposit quantity of toner on a conductive sleeve 23 is detected by a detecting edvice containing a light emitting device 32 and a photo detector 33, so that the toner concentration level may be judged. After detection of toner concentration, a voltage in the same polarity as the toner or a grounding voltage is applied to the conductive sleeve 23, so that the toner deposited on the surface of the conductive sleeve may be rubbed out by a magnetic brush formed by the developer on the surface of the pump-up roller 11 and be cleaned.
