Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a high pressure tank liquid level meter, which is safe, light and simple in construction, by introducing a light from an optical aperture, which is formed at the lower end of a communicating vessel made to stand upright at the side of a high pressure tank, so that the liquid level may be optically measured from the light reflected on the liquid surface. CONSTITUTION:The light from a light source 6 is changed by a lens 7 and a pin hole 8 into a thin beam 9, which is introduced through an optical aperture 5 into a communicating vessel 3. The light is then reflected a liquid surface, which waved by a vibrator 12, into a scattered light 9', which is reflected through the optical aperture 5 by a beam splitter 10 until it reaches a screen 14 through a condensing lens 13. Then, the position of the screen 14 is so adjusted that the scattered light 9' becomes a spot light, and the distance at that time between the lens 13 and the screen 14 is measured. The level of the liquid surface 11 can be determined by the measured distance. Thus, it is possible to obtain a high pressure tank liquid level meter which is safe, simple and easy in construction.
