Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain non-aqueous electrolyte batteries which are low in cost, which do not generate environmental pollution, and which are excellent in discharge performance by mainly using the complex compounds of iron and nickel as the positive electrode of the batteries whose negative electrode is light metal, such as lithium. CONSTITUTION:The positive electrode 1 is clamped on the battery case 2, the separator 5 in which electrolyte is impregnated intervenes on it, and the negative electrode 3 consisting of light metal, such as metal lithium sheet, is set up. This negative electrode 3 is clamped and enclosed at the inner surface of the case cover 4 and non-aqueous electrolyte batteries are formed. As the positive electrode 1 of these batteries, the complex compounds of iron and nickel, for example, 4-mol aqueous sodium hydroxide is added to the mixed aqueous solution of 0.8-mol ferric sulfate and 0.2-mol nickel sulfate, neutralized, and stands alone. Then, co-precipitates are filtered, washed, dried, and heat-treated for five hours at 500 deg.C.
