Abstract

PURPOSE: To efficiently treat a large quantity of molten metal in a short time by dividing the inner pass of a cylindrical dipped part, with a partition wall, dipped in molten metal in a molten metal container and by allowing the metal to flow in a vessel and out of the vessel, thus circulating the metal.
CONSTITUTION: Molten metal treating vessel 3 is connected to a vacuum degassing system with pipe 13 and evacuated to draw up molten metal 2 in molten metal container 1 into vessel 3 through lower dipped cylinder 4. In vessel 3 metal 2 is subjected to degassing treatment or degassing treatment and component regulation with additives. By setting partition wall 6 in cylinder 4 the molten metal pass of cylinder 4 is divided. The periphery of a lower dead part of one pass is provided with a gas exhaust nozzle for carrying metal 2 to spout gas, thereby forming a rising pass. The other pass acts as a falling pass. A rising stream may be formed with gas blow pipe 9. Since wall 6 is always enclosed with metal 2, the inner support beam is cooled with cooling water feed and drain pipes.
