Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide the title apparatus reduced in size by combining a cold trap with a liquid metal storage tank to eliminate the space for setting the trap.
CONSTITUTION: A liquid metal such as Na entering the purifying system from a main system through purifying line 11 is injected into storage tank 1 once and allowed to flow into cold trap 2 from the lower part of trap 2 with electromagnetic pump 8 set at the outlet side of trap 2. A refrigerant such as N2 gas is fed into cooling pipe 4 put into trap 2 to cool the liquid metal flowing through packings 3, whereby impurities are precipitated on packings 3 to purify the metal. The purified metal is circulated to the main system from the outlet of trap 2 through outlet line 12 with pump 8.
