Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the production of pinholes and obtain the slab of the captioned steels of good surface quality by giving the specified flow unification in the specific direction to the molten steel surface of casting mold by an electromagnetic stirrer in producing rimmed and semikilled steels through continuous casting. CONSTITUTION:In continuously casting the rimmed or semikilled steel of the specified components with a casting mold 1, an electromagnetic stirrer 3 is provided in the lower position of the casting mold 1 to give flow unification of 0.1 to 0.5m/sec in one direction perpendicular to the casting direction.
