EXAMPLE: (3aR, 5S, 6R, 6aR)-5-Benzoyloxy-1-ethylthio-6-(2-hydroxyethyl)-hexahydro-1H-cyclopenta(c)furan.
USE: Intermediate for the production of a bioactive substance such as prostaglandin or a prostaglandin-family compound.
PROCESS: The compound I is prepared by reacting a compound II (A' is H, OH- protecting group) with a compound III in the presence of an acid, and if necessary after protecting the OH group, hydrolyzing the resulting acetal.
