Abstract

PURPOSE: To automatically control the power-factor of a synchronous motor to a maximum phase-advancement value by the signal of a calculation circuit, by detecting the current of an armature circuit, comparing the current with a setpoint and applying the difference and the signal of a field current detector to the calculation circuit.
CONSTITUTION: The main circuit current Ia of the synchronous motor 1 is detected by a current transformer 4 and compared with the signal of a rated current setting unit 7 by a comparator 8. The difference is applied to an operational amplifier 15. The current If of the field winding 2 of the motor 1 is detected by another current transformer 12 and applied to the operational amplifier 15 through a limiter 14. The calculation circuit detects such an optimal driving current level that the power factor of the motor has the maximum phase-advancement value. The calculation circuit applies a signal ΔI to a phase shifter 16, which generates an output signal to control a thyristor 3 to sulply an appropriate driving current to the motor.
