Abstract
PURPOSE:To detect NO and NO2 with high precision by enabling one motor to drive two choppers, a flow chopper alternating between a direct flow of sample gas and a flow of NO obtained by conversion and a photo chopper between a reaction chamber and a photo detector. CONSTITUTION:BY-path 1a at the end part of passage 1 flowing sample gas as it is and by-path 2a of passage 2 flowing the sample gas while converting all gas into NO by converter 3 are closed by turns by flow chopper 4 and two kinds of gas mentioned above are led alternatively to reaction chamber 10 by way of confluence point 8 and choke passage 11; and emitted light is intermitted by photo chopper 13 and led to photo detector 12, which calculates its value, thereby measuring both NO and NO2 at the same time. In the above-mentioned unit, flow chopper 4 and photo chopper 13 are driven by the same motor 5 so as to perform the alternating-current synchronous detection of two gas samples mentioned above (the original sample gas and that converted into NO) by the simple mechanism, so that while its direct- current component is removed, the both will be measured with high precision.
