Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a device which deflects the flying directions of ink jet droplets on plural levels with a simple construction by providing means which changes the jet speeds and the masses of ink droplets corresponding to recording signals and means which changes the flying directions corresponding to said changes. CONSTITUTION:An ink jetting part 4 consists of a cylindrical piezoelectric element 42 which is polarized by high DC voltage and has electrodes 41a and 41b on the inside and the outside, an orifice plate 44 with a nozzle hole 43 on the front face of said element and a pipe 45 which introduces ink 2 from an ink tank 1 to an inside chamber 40. If suitable wave conditions are applied to the outer electrode 41b of the piezoelectric element 42, the volume of the inside chamber 40 is decreased suddenly and ink is jetted as the droplets of the jet speeds and the masses corresponding to the wave conditions. These ink droplets are charged by an electrostatic field formed by a charging and deflecting electrode 8 corresponding to the size of the droplets and are deflected corresponding to the size, or mass, of the droplets.
