Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable an expression of halftone by a method wherein a size of an ink droplet injected from a discharging orifice under a constant frequency is varied in accordance with a halftone signal.
CONSTITUTION: An ink liquid column 3 injected from a discharging orifice causes a pulsating current by receiving a mechanical vibration of a piezoelectric element 1 being oscillated by a drive signal control means 4 regularly in a constant period and separates a droplet carrying a predetermined electric charge from a tip end thereof in an area passing through a cylindrical charged electrode 5. The charged electrode 5 gives the droplet separated from the ink liquid column a predetermined electric charge in accordance with a video signal generated by a generating means 6. The droplet 7 is deflected between a deflecting electrode 8 in accordance with an amount of the electric charge thereof and is flown to a recording medium 10 selectively. The size of the droplet may be regulated by modulating an amplitude of the droplet forming frequency.
