Abstract

1473007 Ink droplet printers XEROX CORP 29 Aug 1974 [30 Aug 1973] 37840/74 Heading B6F A plurality of ink droplet producing nozzles 16 are supplied with voltage pulses, and means are provided to prevent droplets issuing from one nozzle being repulsed from their path by the field associated with another nozzle. The nozzles are pulsed to generate a field with respect to a backing electrode 26 sufficient to form and detach an ink droplet. Electrodes 28, 30 may be placed between the nozzles and connected to a voltage source whose voltage is less than the peak value of the voltage pulses applied to the nozzles. Alternatively, alternate nozzles may be supplied with pulses of opposite polarity.
