Abstract
PURPOSE: To form grain patterns with excellent ornament properties without depending upon troublesome methods, such as, pressure printing, etching or printing or the like, by electrolysis treating, hydration treating and anode oxidation treating a surface of Al.
CONSTITUTION: Al or an Al alloy material is electrolysis treated by pulse polarity conversion wave-form currents with peak voltage P1 in an electrolytic bath containing alkaline electrolytes, such as, sodium silicate, etc. and barrier type film forming electrolytes, such as, boric acid, tartaric acid, etc. This is anode oxidation treated in a coloring organic acid eletrolytic bath of oxalic acid, sulsalicylic acid, etc. while using voltage P2 lower than P1 as peak voltage. This is hydration treated by soaking it in hot water with not less than 40°C, by exposing it in steam or by steeping it in hot water containing nickel acetate, etc. Lastly, this is anode oxidized in an electrolytic bath of organic acids, such as, oxalic acid, etc. that make up complex salt with Al or alkaline treated and cathode electrolytic treated to remove barrier films and anode oxidation treated mentioned above, and grain patterns closely resembling natural wood are formed on a surface of the Al material.
