Abstract
PURPOSE: To color the pattern of wood grain beautifully, by carrying out simple electrochemical treatment after revealing the grain pattern by carrying out electrolytic treatment of Al material in acid or alkali.
CONSTITUTION: Pretreatment of Al or Al alloy materials, such as removal of fat, etching, is carried out by using alternating current or pulsating waveform direct current in the electrlytic solution of diluted acid, such as sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid etc., or alkali, such as NaOH, meta-sodium silicate etc. Silver grey pattern of wood grain is revealed in the upper and lower direction of the surface of the Al materials. The above grain is colored by metal salts by electrolyzing by altenating current in inorganic coloring bath containing all sorts of metal salts. Or, the grain pattern is colored beautifully by etching with NaOH, etc. lightly and electrolyzing by alternating current in inorganic coloring bath containing metal salts or dipping in the coloring liquid or dyestuff solution.
