Abstract

PURPOSE: To save the consumption of chemicals and enable discoloration of colored waste water at low cost, by treating the dye waste water containing phthalocyanine metal complex by Fenton method, and removing the precipitate of produced special insoluble complex salt.
CONSTITUTION: Phthalocyanine dye waste water containing copper, Ni, etc. is treated by Fenton method in a purification tank 1 by adding H2O2 and iron salt (Fe2+ or Fe3+) according to a known method. At this time, pH is adjusted to about 2 to 4, and a complex salt consisting of the dye and trivalent iron is produced. This complex salt is removed in a precipitation tank 5 which is newly installed, and the waste water is sent to a conventional coagulation tank 2, and NaOH is added to adjust pH to about 8 to 10 to promote the growth of flocs. Then, the solid matter is separated again in a precipitation tank 3, and the supernatant is neutralized with sulfuric acid to pH7, and is discharged. From the coprecipitation of complex salt removed above, Fe3+ is separated and recovered to be reused. This method, as compared with the conventional method, excels in the discoloration effect and COD removal effect.
