Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a Ni base heat resistant alloy very suitable for use in a high temp. He atmosphere over a long time by adding Cr, Mo and W to Ni in a specified ration and by regulating the ratio of C, Si, Mn, Cr, Mg, Mo and/or W and Ni.
CONSTITUTION: The alloy consists of C 0.01W0.3%, Si 0.01W1.0%, Mn 0.01W 2.0%, Cr 10W30%, Mg 0.003W0.05%, Mo and/or W 3W25% and Ni the balance. The Cr, Mo and W contents are required to satisfy the conditions of the equation. Part of the Ni can be replaced by below 10% Fe. In this alloy the Si acts as a deoxidizer, the Mn is used as a deoxidizer and to improve hot workability, the Cr, Mo and W ensure oxidation resistance and high temp. strength, and the Mg improves workability. This alloy is an ideal material for parts used in a high temp. He atmosphere, e.g. the heat exchanger of a high temp. gas furnace.
