Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate the moisture from the cell as far as possible and extend the serivce life, by preliminarily dehydrating the electrolyte in an electrochromic display cell.
CONSTITUTION: In an electrode 9a having a transparent electrode for display 11 provided on a transparent insulating substrate 10, a WO3 thin film 12 is formed on the electrode 11 as a coloring layer. Also, a WO3 thin film 15 is formed on an electrode 9b having a Ta thin film 14, or the like, provided on a substrte 13 as a counter electrode, and is preliminarily energized and colored. The electrodes 9a, 9b constitute a cell with a spacer 16. In advance, LiClO4 is gradually heated and baked in a vacuum, and the moisture content is decreased. Or, depending on the state.
