Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the coloring and decoloring reaction speeds of an electrochromic (EC) layer and enhance the response properties of an EC display cell by adding a mixture of an org. solvent and an alkali salt and a specified amount of water to an electrolyte in the cell.
CONSTITUTION: Transparent electrode 2 having a display pattern and a lead portion is formed on the inside of display side substrate 1, and WO3 layer 3 is formed as an EC layer on film 2 corresponding to the pattern.
