Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the charging of electric drops not charged due to the electrostatic induction of deflecting electrodes and improve printing accuracy by a mechanism wherein one side of the deflecting electrodes is made the same as the potential of a recording head and a surface rectangular to one end of the electrode is mounted between the other side of the deflecting electrodes and a charging electrode. CONSTITUTION:A deflecting electrode 8 to which a rectangular surface 8a is disposed is made the same as the potential of a recording head 1, and the other deflecting electrode 8' and a charging electrode 3 are electrostatically shielded by the rectangular surface 8a between the electrode 8' and the electrode 3. Charging at polarity inverse to electric charge not charged can be prevented by the electrostatic induction of the deflecting electrodes. The deflecting electrodes 8, 8' and the charging electrode 3 are insulated through an insulator 9, both are brought near without causing discharge, and the deflection of printing charged drops is accelerated. Thus, the uniting of the printing electric drops and the electric drops not charged is obviated, and printing accuracy is improved.
