Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase ion current density and make possible high speed recording by making corona electric field and generating ion currents only between a corona discharge wire and an ion current control electrode. CONSTITUTION:As an example, the diameter of a corona discharge wire 10 is made 80mu, the distance between the corona discharge wire and control electrode 11 9mm and the thickness of the control electrode 11 400mu. An experiment device mounting Al to both surfaces of the base thereof as electrodes is illustrated. The electrode being a metal plate for receiving ion current is grounded by way of an ammeter 13 and voltage of negative polarity is applied to the corona discharge wire 10 and voltage of the same polarity to the control electrode 11. This device increases the quantity of ions. The use of the control electrode of a small hole diameter enables high wire density to be obtained and ion current density to be increased, thereby providing the electrostatic recorder permitting high-speed recording.
