CONSTITUTION:A conductive member 11 is inserted between insulating members 10 installed among a charge electrode 3 and deflecting electrodes 4, and the conductive member 11 is earthed. Electric fields from both electrodes 3, 4 are directed to conductive member 11 earthed, and effect exerted on the flying passages of ink drops is lessened. A fact which guard drops are charged in reversed polarity to printing drops by under the influence of deflection electrodes 4 can also be prevented at the same time. The reversed polarity charge of the guard drops depends upon only the effect of preceding charged ink drops, and coulomb force functioning among both ink drops can be reduced, thus this structure is advantageous in order to avoid the uniting of the ink drops.
