Abstract
PURPOSE: To enhance solvent performance as well as safety characteristic and carry out reaction efficiently, by a method wherein a fraction with b.p. above specific temp. obtained by liquefaction of coal is subjected to hydrogenation treatment and, after a fractionated medium b.p. component is subjected to hydrogenation treatment, the obtained hydrogenated medium b.p. fraction is mixed with a low b.p. and with a high b.p. component to prepare a liquefaction solvent.
CONSTITUTION: Coal 8 and a solvent 9 is mixed in a stirring tank 1 to form a slurry and, after this slurry is heated to a predetermined temp. in a heating furnace, the high temp. slurry is supplied to a dissolving tank 3 to complete the liquefaction reaction. The gas generated herein is withdrawn from the top of the dissolving tank and separated, and a liquid product enters a distillation tower 4 to be fractionated into a light component with b.p. below 200°C, a reaction product with b.p. above 200°C and an unreacted residue. The reaction product with b.p. above 200°C is introduced along with H2 gas 10 into a hydrogenation tower 5 to be hydrogenated and the obtained reaction product enters into a distillation tower 6 to be fractionated into a gas and a light oil with b.p. below 200°C, a component A with b.p. of 200W 210°C, a component B with b.p. of 211W230°C and a component C with b.p. above 231°C. The component B is subjected to hydrogenation treatment and the obtained product is mixed with total amount or part of the component A and, thereafter, 50% or less of the component C is mixed with 50% or more of said mixture, and used as a solvent for the liquefaction of coal.
