Abstract
PURPOSE: To convert CaSO3 efficiently to CaSO4 so as to improve the quality of CaSO4, by bringing a suspension, which is to be charged to oxidation step and contains CaSO3, into contact with oxygen or with oxygen-contg. gas after a specific quantity of CaCl2 having been added to the suspension.
CONSTITUTION: Exhaust gas contg. SOX is washed with an absorbing soln. Contg. either of CaCO3 or Ca(OH)2 or the both of them, and CaCl2 together with these materials to form a suspension contg. CaSO3. The CaSO3 suspension hereby obtained or a CaSO3 suspension manufactured by dispersing the CaSO3 separated by solid-liquid separation into water, and by addition with 2W28wt% CaCl2, is brought into contact with oxygen gas or with oxygen-contg. gas, hereby CaSO3 is oxidized to CaSO4 efficiently.
