Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent retention of working chips on a bottom surface of a machine and improve a workability by a method wherein an amount of a parallel proceeding motion is varied in accordance with a voltage at a working gap upon an electric discharge machining in which an electrode and a work are provided with the periodical parallel proceeding motion. CONSTITUTION:In case a finish working is effected, the working of a work 2 is effected by a revolutional circular motion of an electrode 1 through servo motors 9X, 9Y. In case a voltage at a working gap is being kept higher than a comparing voltage VB of a comparator 15, a radius of the revolutional circular motion of the electrode 1 is enlarged sequentially and stepwisely. In case a short circuit is generated at the working gap due to working chips or the like, an output of the comparator 15 becomes ''1'', an F/F16 is reset and an AND gate 17 is closed. Accordingly, a pulse is not inputted into a stepping motor controlling device 19 and the radius of the revolutional circular motion of the electrode 1 is not varied. Working liquid is mixed during that time and the working chips causing a short circuiting is discharged to the outside of the machine.
