Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the title fluorescent substance having improved flow properties with a small variation of discharge amount from a spray gun, and little change of flow properties with time, by blending finely divided particles of silica and the fluorescent substance, followed by sintering above a specific temperature.
CONSTITUTION: For example, a fluorescent substance YVPSiO4/Eu is blended with preferably 0.5W10wt% of finely divided particles of silica having particle diameters of submicrons. The blend is sintered at not lower than 800°C so that water adsorption of the finely divided silica contained in the blended fluorescent substance is reduced to give the desired fluorescent substance.
