Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain titled resin, excellent in flexibility and corrosion resistance, by reacting a specified flexible epoxy resin with an excess of bifunctional phenols, and reacting the residual phenolic hydroxy group with epichlorohydrin.
CONSTITUTION: (a) At least one flexible epoxy resin selected from diglycidyl ether of polyalkylene glycol, epoxides obtained by the partial oxidation of diene, or glycidyl ether of a diol obtained by the addition of an alkylene oxide to bifunctional phenols, is reacted with (b) bifunctional phenols having two hydroxy groups bonded to the benzene ring, in one molecule, in such amounts that the equivalent ratio of the hydroxy group in the phenols to the epoxy group in the flexible epoxy resin is 1.9W25. Then purpose resin is obtained by reacting the residual phenolic hydroxy group with epichlorohydrin.
