Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce the slab of good quality free from any internal defect stably by casting molten steel while rabbling the same at the same instant of heating the same by using the induction heating input controlled according to molten steel temperature.
CONSTITUTION: Molten steel is poured from the hole provided in the bottom of a ladle 1 into a tundish 3. An electromagnetic induction coil 11 is provided to the tundish 3 and while the molten steel in the tundish is being rabbled, its temperature is controlled. This molten steel becomes the pouring flow 5 by passing through a tundish nozzle 4 and is poured into a water-cooled mold 6. There is a concentrical electromagnetic induction coil 11 on the outside circumference of the lining 10, and an electric power is loaded thereto from an electric power source 12 through an input control unit 13 to control the molten steel temperature while rabbling the molten steel. Since the molten steel is of circular cylindrical shape, the electromagnetic induction heating of the same produces the strong flow of the molten steel in the direction of the arrow owing to pinch effect, thereby evenly rabbling the molten steel.
