Abstract
PURPOSE:To hold rabbling thrust at a desired value and obtain the slab of homogeneous cast structure by controlling the cooling water flow of the slag on the mold side than an electromagnetic rabbling device by the detecting signal of the magnetism or surface temperature of the frozen shell of the slab near the electromagnetic rabbling device. CONSTITUTION:The unfrozen part 1 of the slab in continuous casting of steel is rabbled by an electromagnetic rabbling device 3. The magnetism of the surface of the slab frozen shell 2 near the device 3 is detected with a magnetism detector 5. The detector 5 comprises installing the coils wound with fixed windings spacially by a fixed distance from the slab, applying fixed voltage to these coils and detecting the impedances of the coils. The detected magnetism is compared with the set magnetism of the magnetic value corresponding to the curie point of cast steel kinds in a comparator 6. The signal of the comparator 6 is input to a secondary cooling water flow control unit 7. Depending upon the positive and negative of the signal of the comparator 6, the unit 7 controls the cooling water flow of the cooling water piping 4 on the mold 8 side by the device 3.
