Abstract

PURPOSE:To control the strip temp. of the time when a line speed and a strip size changes which could not have been followed up with conventional furnace temp. control by gases by providing an induction heating part for the purpose of controlling the strip temp. near a heating zone. CONSTITUTION:An induction heating part 4 is provided in the rear part of a gas heating zone 3 of a continuous annealing furnace. For example, to change the size of a strip 50 from small to large, the output of an induction heating coil 17 is operated by a control mechanism 26 from the reference signal outputs 24 for target strip temp., welding point position, line speed, plate thickness, plate width obtained from a furnace temp. control device 23, the strip temp. 31 before the induction heating furnace obtained with a temp. detector 15 and the strip temp. 32 behind the induction heating furnace obtained with a temp. detector 16, and a variable voltage and variable frequency control mechanism 29 is operated by the results thereof, whereby the voltage and frequency of a power source 37 to be applied to the coil 17 are determined. Therefore, the temp. of the succeeding strip attains the target temp. while it is passing through the furnace 4.
