Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a stainless cast steel having high strength and superior cavitation erosion resistance and suitable for a water turbine runner by combinedly adding a specified amount of Mo and V to a Cr-Ni martensitic stainless steel.
CONSTITUTION: This stainless cast steel contains C; 0.03W0.10%, Si; 0.1W1.0%, Mn; 0.1W2.0%, Cr; 10W15%, Ni; 2W7%, Mo; 0.1W3.0% and V; 0.05W0.50%. Mo; 0.1W3.0% and V; 0.05W0.50% are added to a martensitic stainless steel contg. Cr; 10W15% and Ni; 2W7%, and the steel is melted, cast into the water turbine runner of a hydro generator, normalized at 900W1,000°C as cast, allowed to cool, and tempered at 500W600°C. At this state the structure of the casting is mainly of martensite structure, and residual austenite is reduced to 20% or less, resulting in improved matrix strength and cavitation erosion resistance.
