Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide martensite stainless cast steel highly resistant to pitting and having ferrite in amount of 15% or less by adding specific elements to ferrite stainless steel.
CONSTITUTION: A Cr based stainless cast steel contains C<0.10%, Si<1.0%, mn<1.0%, P<0.04%, S<0.04%, Cr: 13W16%, Ni: 1W3.5%, Mo: 0.5W2.0%, Cu: 0.1W2.0%, and W: 0.1W1.0%. This stainless cast steel, being provided with good balance by the elements added as specified, can be controlled to have ferrite component less than 15%, by regulating solidification speed and thermal treatment. Paper making suction rolls, made from this stainless cast steel by using centrifugal casting, is resistant to pitting, and is particularly excellent in corrosion resistance and mechanical properties under a strong acidic condition.
