Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture a low temp. turbine blade steel with superior low temp. toughness by adjusting the Ni equivalent, Cr equivalent, etc. of an Ni-contg. 12% Cr steel as a basic composition and heat treating the resulting alloy steel under specified conditions.
CONSTITUTION: The components of an alloy steel contg. 0.05W0.25% C+N, 0.1W 1.50% Si, 0.1W2.0% Mn, 2.0W6.0% Ni, 10.0W14.0% Cr and 0.02W0.30% in total of one or more among Nb, Ta and Zr or further contg. a specified small amount of one or more among Mo, W, V, Co, Cu, Ti, Al, B, Ca, Te and REM are adjusted so that the ratio of Ni equivalent to Cr equivalent represented by formula I, II becomes 0.1W0.5. The resulting steel is heated to 850W1.150°C, hardened, and tempered at AC1WAC1 +80°C to obtain a low temp. turbine blade steel with superior low temp. toughness.
