Abstract

PURPOSE: Title flame-retarding agent which has almost no adverse effect on the advantageous properties of polyamides, and which does not bloom to the surfaces of moldings, comprising the reaction product of dicyandiamide and a specific amino compound.
CONSTITUTION: A flame-retarding agent for polyamides is obtained by heating and reacting a mixture, in a mol ratio of 0.3W5, of dicyandiamide and an amino compound represented by the formula: R-NH2, wherein R is a 2W20C, aliphatic, aromatic or heterocyclic residue, which may be branched, in a solvent and under acidic conditions. The flame-retarding agent produced is ground to obtain powder having a particle diameter of 100μ, and the powder is added to a polyamide in an amount of 1W20wt%, pref. 5W15wt%, based on the polyamide.
