Abstract
PURPOSE:To produce metal globules free from crack or protuberance easily, by using water at specified temperature as cooling medium. CONSTITUTION:Water 9 for cooling, at least its upper part, is kept at 50 deg.-80 deg.C by means of a heater 11 disposed around a water tank 10. A gas discharge valve 7 is closed, and a flow-in valve 6 is opened to introduce gas into a crucible 2 to pressurize molten metal 3. Then, the molten metal 3 drops from a hole 4 in the form of liquid droplets 8. While sinking in the water for cooling, the liquid droplets 8 are cooled and solidified, thus forming metal globules 13. Since water is used as cooling medium, metal globules taken out of the cooling medium may be used only by drying.
