Abstract
PURPOSE: To remove carbon monoxide from the briquet combustion gas by installing an oxidation apparatus body having a combustion gas guide passage and a catalyst holder, together with an air inlet passage opened into the guide passage.
CONSTITUTION: An oxidation apparatus body 10 is mounted on combustor 1 so that space inside a tapered cylindrical body 11 and space between the upper part of the tapered cylindrical body and the lower surface of a catalyst layer 6 from a combustion gas guide passage for gathering and guiding the combustion gas to the catalyst layer 6. Therefore, the combustion gas is allowed to flow as shown by the arrow (A), and discharged upward through the catalyst layer 6. Accordingly, the combustion gas guide passage 18 is at a high temperature, so that a large temperature difference occurs between the upper and lower end openings of an air inlet passage 15, and an ascending current is produced. The secondary air sucked into the air inlet passage 15 by the ascending current is introduced in the combustion gas guide passage 18, and mixed uniformly with the combustion gas, before contacting with the catalyst layer 6. Thus, carbon monoxide in the combustion gas, which is combined with oxygen to form carbon dioxide, can be removed.
